When In Rome

Our last stop before flying out of Spain, was to stop in my old stomping grounds, Italy. I lived there for a semester in 2006 and could not wait to go back. As soon as we landed I excitedly savored every building, accent and meal I could. We flew into Rome and then traveled to Tuscany and ended in Milan. Enjoy.

Vatican City

The Vatican Guards

San Pietro's Basilica
We got in as a processional took place in the main area of Saint Peter's.

La Pieta by Michelangelo
The main entrance to the ancient city of Rome, also known as the Roman Forum.

The Colosseum

The Pantheon

Above is the Trevi Fountain
These locks are located all around the church across from the fountain. They signify forever love between couples and people believe their relationship is blessed by putting these locks by the Trevi Fountain (good luck) and the church (blessing).
Inside the prison where Peter and Paul were held, it now is a shrine to them and their work.
In the prison cell below the ground. People were thrown in through this hole and it was the only opening in or out. Usually prisoners drowned in the cell when it would rain.
All roads lead to Rome.
A memorial to all the Christians who were martyred in the Colosseum.
Restoration

The Duomo in Florence : )

She is recreating this masterpiece on a sidewalk with chalk!
The Ponte Vechio. The bridge used by the kings of Florence to go into town and the only bridge of Florence to survive the World Wars. It is now where you can find Florence's famous jewelry.
I really love this one. I lived down the street on the right of the photo.
Gelato!!!!
